About The Artist
Practice & Perspective
Anastasia Edry is an award-winning ceramic artist based in Arlington, Massachusetts. She earned a BFA in Craft and Materials Studies with a focus in ceramics from the College for Creative Studies and currently teaches ceramics to students of all ages. Her work has appeared in the College for Creative Studies Annual Student Exhibition in 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025; EVERYTHING MUST GO: CERAMICS LIQUIDATION at Public Pool in 2023; and Patchwork, An Eclectic Experience at Design Studio 6 in 2023. In her studio practice, Anastasia explores texture, color, and the expressive possibilities of surface decoration.

Adult Handbuilding: Functional vs Decorative
Learn Handbuilding and sculpture techniques and how they might be conducive to functional or decorative ware. Students will learn slab, coil, and solid building techniques, and how to choose an appropriate technique for a project. We will tackle handbuilt dinnerware, as well as home decor sculpture!

Learn Handbuilding and sculpture skills and design dynamic characters and creatures! The class will focus on working in the round, and translating an idea to 3D. Students will begin with sketching and scale maquettes, before moving onto a final sculpture.

Never touched clay before? No problem! In this class students will learn the basics of wheel throwing, and how to make mugs and bowls, so you can have your morning cereal and coffee in dinnerware of your own creation!
