Studio visits begin September 1 and must be arranged in advance by email or phone.

No. Firebox is a working studio, and someone may not be available to receive visitors.

Metered public parking is available in the Waverley Square municipal lot on Church Street. Street parking is subject to posted limits and restrictions.

Yes. The studio is wheelchair accessible.

No. Studio access is limited to current members and enrolled students. Guests, children, and pets are not permitted in the studio.

Classes and memberships are for adults. Firebox does not admit unaccompanied minors except through dedicated children's programming, which will be announced separately.

Wear clothes you are comfortable getting dirty. Clay stains and glaze splashes are part of the process. Closed-toe shoes are required.

Beginner classes are designed for people with little or no prior experience. Intermediate and advanced offerings list their prerequisites.

No. Firebox sells approved studio clay to students at cost, plus any sales tax required by Massachusetts law. Students purchase clay by the bag as needed and may not bring outside clay bodies.

Students use only the glazes supplied for their class.

Missed classes are the student's responsibility. Firebox does not offer make-up classes, substitute sessions, prorated refunds, or credits for missed attendance.

Classes are held in Studio A. When no class is scheduled there, enrolled students may use Studio A for independent practice, subject to availability of wheels, tables, and other equipment.

Student practice access does not include the membership resources in Studio D. Students must finish, clean, and clear Studio A before the next scheduled class. Practice may never delay the start of a class.

Membership is for ceramicists who can manage their own workflow, clean safely, use shared equipment responsibly, and work without continuous instruction.

Membership resources are based in Studio D. Membership includes access during published member hours, shared workspace, a storage allocation, shared equipment, the Firebox house glaze library, and access to standard studio firing.

Clay and firing are charged separately.

No. Firebox sells approved studio clay to members at cost, plus any sales tax required by Massachusetts law. Members may also bring an outside clay body after review and approval.

Members may bring approved outside clay bodies. Members may use the Firebox house glaze library and may introduce additional glazes after documented testing and studio approval.

Memberships run by calendar month and renew automatically on the first day of each month. If a member begins after the first day of the month, the initial charge may be prorated through the final day of that month.

After onboarding, monthly fees are billed in full and are not prorated. Members who cancel retain access through the end of their final paid month. Limited access afterward may be available through day passes, subject to availability and eligibility.

Each member receives a dedicated shelf for active work and materials. Shelf dimensions are being finalized and will be confirmed before memberships open.

Cancel before the next renewal date to prevent the following month's charge. Access continues through the end of the last paid month. Remove all personal work and materials by that date.

Large work may be accepted with prior approval, based on drying, handling, kiln capacity, and scheduling. Large-work firing may be priced by kiln volume rather than at the standard per-pound rate.

Standard firing is charged at $3 per pound of bisque ware. The fee includes one bisque firing and one standard glaze firing.

Refiring is charged at a flat rate of $5 per piece and is subject to studio approval.

If Firebox determines that a firing was unsuccessful because of kiln or studio-equipment failure, the affected firing fee may be waived or credited.

No. Ceramics is inherently unpredictable. Firebox will use reasonable care in handling and firing work, but cannot guarantee that a piece will survive or achieve a particular color, surface, form, or finish.
