About The Artist
Form, Anatomy & Observation
Gabrielle LoTurco is a multidisciplinary artist with a deep foundation in classical figurative sculpture and drawing. She trained at the Flowerfield Atelier with Kevin McEvoy in New York, where she studied classical drawing and painting through rigorous atelier instruction.
Gabrielle continued her studies in Florence, Italy, with Jason Arkles. Immersed in Renaissance traditions, she assisted with large-scale work and studied foundational approaches to form and anatomy. Workshops in Greece and Boston further shaped her commitment to observation, precision, structure, and the expressive potential of the human form.
She is currently pursuing a BFA in Jewelry and Metals at Rhode Island College while developing Formstudio, a business centered on sculptural jewelry and art.

Beginner Figure Sculpture in Clay: Form + Observation
This four-week beginner course offers hands-on studio time and side-by-side instruction while students create clay studies from live figure models. Short poses and sustained studies introduce gesture, proportion, the major masses of the body, skeletal structure, musculature, planes, and refinement. Students will leave with a group of clay sketches and a practical foundation for modeling the figure from observation. Tuition includes live-model fees. Clay is purchased separately, with the approved clay body and quantity guidance provided before class. Firebox provides basic class tools and cleaning supplies; any specialized requirements will be identified before registration. Firing is not included and, where appropriate, is optional and charged separately.

This eight-week intermediate course guides students through the complete process of creating a one-quarter-scale figure sculpture from a live model. Students begin with gesture, proportion, and anatomical landmarks before building the long pose on an armature. Successive sessions address the major masses, musculature, planes, transitions, facial features, hands, and feet. The course concludes with hollowing and surface refinement, with guidance on preparing the sculpture for optional firing. Tuition includes live-model fees. Clay is purchased separately, with the approved clay body and quantity guidance provided before class. Firebox provides basic class tools and cleaning supplies; course-specific armature and specialized-tool requirements will be identified before registration. Firing is not included. Optional firing is charged separately and is subject to the sculpture meeting Firebox’s hollowing, drying, size, handling, and kiln-safety requirements.
