Come make pottery take shape.
Get your hands in clay at Firebox. Try wheel throwing and handbuilding while our instructors demonstrate, answer questions, and teach alongside you. These hands-on activities are for children and adults, and no pottery experience is needed.
Live in the studio
Two ways to get your hands in clay.
Pottery can begin at the wheel or at the table. During the open house, visitors can try both approaches while Firebox instructors work, demonstrate, and offer guidance alongside them.
At the wheel
Wheel throwing
Take a seat at a potter’s wheel and try centering, opening, and pulling clay into form. Instructors will be throwing nearby and helping visitors experience the movements for themselves.
At the table
Handbuilding
Work at the table with clay and explore direct, approachable ways to build form without a wheel. Moe will demonstrate and help visitors make alongside her.
Instructor schedule
Make alongside us.
Drop in during the day, try the wheel or handbuilding, and learn beside Firebox instructors as they work. Activities overlap, so visitors can move between the wheel and the table.
10 a.m.–2 p.m.
Moe Lewis-Wolf
Hands-on handbuilding with demonstrations and guidance at the table.
10 a.m.–1 p.m.
Alejandra Cuadra
Wheel throwing off the hump, with visitors learning and throwing alongside.
11 a.m.–1 p.m.
David LaPierre
Throwing pots at the wheel, with visitors invited to try alongside him.
More than watching
Learn alongside the people who teach here.
Make with Firebox instructors, ask questions, look around the studio, and learn about classes for people at different stages of their pottery journey. You do not need any experience with clay to take part.
